A solid cherry end server by Monitor Furniture Co., Inc. of Jamestown, New York, with the firm’s original paper label and mid-century inspection tag present on the piece. Jamestown was among the most significant American furniture manufacturing centers of the twentieth century, producing solid wood domestic furniture across dozens of firms for the American residential market. Monitor was among those firms, and this end server — stamped “End Server” on the back and labeled “Genuine Solid Cherry” on the interior — is a well-documented example of that production tradition.

The form is compact and practical: a lift top opening to a deep interior well suited to linen or flat storage, a single drawer with brass bail pulls, and a paneled cabinet door with wooden knob and decorative brass strap hinges, all on a bracket foot base with shaped apron. The solid cherry construction — confirmed both by the original label and by the consistent warm, aged tone of the wood throughout — distinguishes this piece from the veneer and mixed-material production more common in the mass market of the same era.
