Vintage Renaissance Revival Carved Armchair with Burgundy Floral Upholstery

This vintage Renaissance Revival-style armchair combines a carved wooden frame with burgundy floral upholstery. Its tall back, shaped crest, and scrolling arms give the piece a decorative presence, while the open sides keep the woodwork clearly visible.

The back upholstery features a central bouquet surrounded by a floral garland. Cream and pink blossoms, green foliage, and blue ribbon-like accents stand out against the burgundy ground. A coordinating floral arrangement covers the seat, and matching burgundy pads finish the tops of the arms.

The frame follows the upholstery with curved molding and a series of carved details. Circular accents mark the shoulders of the back, just below the raised central crest. Incised lines trace the uprights and arm supports, adding definition to the warm wood surface.

At the front, the arms curl into rounded scrolls before descending toward the seat. Nailhead trim creates a continuous border around the upholstered sections, connecting the patterned fabric to the exposed frame. The bowed front apron carries a small central ornament, with geometric corner blocks positioned above the turned front legs. Small casters are visible at the front feet.

Measuring 25 inches wide and 22 inches deep, the chair offers a compact footprint with a taller, more decorative profile. It would work beside a small table in a bedroom, as an accent in a study, or within a traditional sitting room.
