A beautifully designed and genuinely sculptural vintage rattan dining table from the 1970s to 1980s — a piece that demonstrates the highest ambitions of American coastal furniture production at its peak. The base is the defining element: four bundled rattan poles sweep dramatically outward and downward from a central circular ring collar, creating a silhouette of organic dynamism and natural warmth that is immediately arresting from any angle. The design achieves something rare in furniture — a functional object that is also a convincing work of sculpture.

The construction quality is evident throughout. The bundled rattan legs are smooth, consistent, and firmly jointed. At mid-height, the circular ring collar draws the composition inward before the legs splay to the floor. Between the collar and the ground, a circular woven rattan lower shelf — constructed in a neat grid pattern of crossed reed poles, each intersection finished with wrapped rattan ties — provides structural cross-bracing, a secondary display surface, and a beautiful demonstration of the handcraft tradition that gives vintage rattan furniture its lasting appeal.
