Vintage Louis XV Revival Carved Giltwood Upholstered Settee

This vintage Louis XV Revival settee has exactly the kind of dramatic silhouette that can anchor a room without taking up the visual space of a full sofa.

The exposed giltwood frame follows the entire outline of the piece, with a gently shaped crest, curved upholstered sides, rounded arms, and a serpentine lower apron. Slender cabriole legs and carved decorative details reinforce the French-inspired design, including a small ornamental flourish centered along the lower frame.

The upholstery is a warm neutral champagne-beige with a subtle tone-on-tone damask-style pattern. A generous single bench cushion keeps the seat simple while allowing the carved frame to remain the focal point.

We especially like the contrast between the formal French influence and the softer, aged character the piece has developed over time. It doesn’t necessarily need to live in an entirely traditional room.
