This vintage square side table in solid teak is a well-made and characterful example of Danish mid-century furniture design — specifically the teak-and-ceramic-tile combination that was one of the defining material pairings of Scandinavian export furniture through the 1960s and 1970s. The construction is clean and structural: two solid teak slab panels support an overhanging square top, the whole executed with the material honesty and spatial confidence that characterizes the best Danish design of the period.

Inset into the center of the top is a four-tile ceramic panel with softly rounded corners, the tiles hand-decorated with a bold geometric diamond motif in cream, sand, and warm grey-brown. The incised or sgraffito line-work creates a textural, graphic composition that complements rather than competes with the warm teak grain surrounding it. This type of artist-designed ceramic tile appeared in the work of numerous Danish furniture workshops producing for the international market, including Gangso Mobler and Trioh among others.

The teak is warm and richly grained throughout, the ceramic tile is intact, and the slab panel construction is solid and stable. This table functions equally well as a living room side table, a bedroom nightstand, or an accent piece beside a reading chair. It suits mid-century modern, Scandinavian, Japandi, and contemporary interiors and pairs naturally with the full range of warm wood tones and natural materials currently defining the best of interior design.
