This vintage rattan side table, produced circa 1970s–1980s, is a particularly well-crafted example of the bentwood rattan furniture that defined American coastal and resort interiors at their most expressive. Constructed from natural rattan poles in a warm honey tone, the table features triple-pole corner legs, meticulously wrapped joint lashing at every connection, and a decorative apron of repeating bentwood arches and ovals that runs continuously around all four sides — giving the piece a rhythmic, almost architectural visual character.

Beneath the inset clear glass top, a secondary geometric rattan lattice is visible, creating a layered compositional depth that distinguishes this table from more straightforwardly constructed rattan pieces of the era. This under-glass sub-frame is both structural and decorative, and it catches light in a way that animates the table’s surface from above. The original clear glass top is present and fits cleanly within the rattan frame.

The warm natural rattan tone is consistent and well-preserved throughout. No maker’s label is present, but the quality of construction — precise bentwood curves, tight lashing, substantial pole gauge — is consistent with better-quality American or Filipino rattan production of the period. The table is structurally sound and ready for use.
