These three walnut dining side chairs by Dillingham Furniture represent California mid-century modernism at its most elegant and livable. Each chair carries the original Dillingham manufacturer’s stamp and factory quality control inspector’s mark on the underside — a meaningful provenance detail that confirms their 1960s American origin and distinguishes them from the countless unlabeled period chairs that circulate in the vintage market.

Dillingham Furniture, produced in California during the peak years of American mid-century design, was known for synthesizing the clean lines of Scandinavian modernism with the warmth and materiality of American walnut production. These high-back dining chairs exemplify that approach: a tall, architecturally composed backrest is framed by a walnut border that creates a refined reveal around the upholstered panel — a detail that rewards close attention. The frames feature square-tapered legs, a rear stretcher, and a cleanly proportioned apron, all executed in warm medium-brown walnut with fine, consistent grain.

The original black vinyl upholstery is intact on all three chairs, presenting the bold tonal contrast of dark upholstery against walnut that defined American dining aesthetics of the 1960s.
