This matched pair of vintage 1970s bentwood lounge armchairs — executed in the tradition of Thonet’s celebrated American production — is as relevant today as it was the decade it was made. The sweeping curved arms, the dramatically arced rear legs, the low and generous lounge proportions: every element of this design was resolved by someone who understood that furniture is architecture at human scale, and treated it accordingly.

The frames are beautifully finished bentwood, solid and structurally excellent. The arms describe a continuous fluid curve from the back post to the front — a single gesture that handles the transition between back, arm, and seat with complete elegance. Viewed from the side, the rear legs arc backward before returning forward to the floor in a profile that is quietly show-stopping. The seat and back cushions are upholstered in a sage green and warm cream geometric honeycomb lattice fabric in good presentable condition — or consider them a blank canvas for a fresh textile in bouclé, performance linen, or velvet.
