Modern Mid-Century Style Wingback Swivel Lounge Chair

A sculptural modern lounge chair inspired by mid-century and Scandinavian Modern seating, featuring a dramatic high-back winged silhouette, neutral gray textured upholstery, layered cushions, and a four-star metal swivel base.

The chair is built around an enveloping upholstered shell with tall sides that rise into pronounced wings around the upper back. The profile narrows through the center before sweeping outward into substantial integrated arms, giving the chair a distinctive cocoon-like appearance.

Within the shell, a removable seat cushion is paired with a tall central back cushion and separate upholstered headrest. Two covered buttons and restrained horizontal tufting add subtle detail to the headrest while preserving the chair’s streamlined appearance.

Below, a slender four-star metal pedestal base visually lifts the substantial upholstered body and provides swivel functionality. The contrast between the minimal base and generous winged shell gives the chair its strong modernist character.

The neutral gray upholstery makes the chair versatile enough for contemporary interiors while its sculptural form references classic mid-century lounge seating.
