Broyhill Emphasis Mid-Century Modern Gentleman’s Chest — Eight-Drawer Dresser

This Broyhill Emphasis gentleman’s chest combines generous drawer storage with a divided upper cabinet and a distinctive sculpted front. Its asymmetrical layout places three wide drawers beneath two cabinet doors on the left, with five narrower drawers stacked along the right side.

The cabinet doors feature four elongated panels outlined in rounded molding. Their vertical shapes balance the horizontal drawer fronts, each fitted with a tapered sculpted pull and rectangular backplate. These repeated curves give the piece much of its character, adding depth to the front while keeping the overall design orderly.

A shaped frame surrounds the case and extends into tapered front legs. Below the drawers, a gently curved apron follows the width of the chest. The raised base leaves space beneath the body, and the warm brown finish draws attention to the grain across the doors, drawers, and side panels.

Opening the cabinet reveals three compartments separated by vertical dividers. Together with the two drawer widths, this creates a flexible arrangement for clothing, accessories, and household linens. Wider folded items can occupy the left drawers, with smaller belongings organized in the right-hand column and upper compartments.

The chest works well as a bedroom dresser or as additional storage in a dressing room or guest space. Its broad top provides room for a lamp, framed photographs, or a small collection of decorative objects. Pair it with simple contemporary furnishings to highlight the shaped panels and handles, or incorporate it into a room of collected vintage pieces. The combination of useful storage and distinctive detailing makes it an easy focal point.
