Antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement Tiger Bamboo Three-Tier Side Table with Floral Shelves

A striking antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement side table featuring a beautifully mottled tiger bamboo frame and three dark floral-decorated shelves. Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, this distinctive occasional table reflects the influence of Japanese decorative arts on Victorian furniture design.

The rectangular tabletop features a dark floral panel framed by natural bamboo poles with characteristic tortoiseshell-like markings. A central botanical composition incorporates stylized red flowers, muted green and ochre foliage, and delicate branching stems. Fine rectangular borders and repeating starburst motifs provide additional decorative interest.

Two corresponding lower shelves feature coordinating floral patterns, creating a cohesive three-tier composition. The decorative surfaces contrast beautifully with the warm golden-brown bamboo framework, emphasizing the interplay of natural materials and ornamental design.

Four slender bamboo legs support the table, incorporating angled diagonal braces beneath the upper surface. The resulting open architectural silhouette reflects the lightweight yet expressive construction associated with Victorian bamboo furniture.

The design is closely associated with the Anglo-Japanese and Aesthetic Movement traditions of the late 19th century, when bamboo furnishings and lacquer-inspired decoration became fashionable in Western domestic interiors.

The combination of mottled bamboo, dark floral panels, and restrained geometric proportions gives this antique table a distinctive presence suitable for traditional, British Colonial, bohemian, and eclectic interiors.

Featuring three display levels, the table is well suited for use as an occasional side table, bedside stand, or decorative accent for books, pottery, and collected accessories.
