This solid walnut side table is a genuine antique from rural France, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century (circa 1850–1880). Crafted in the Louis Philippe provincial tradition by an anonymous regional artisan, it combines restrained elegance with the warmth and individuality that only handmade furniture can offer.

The piece is built from solid walnut throughout — confirmed by the richly figured grain visible in the tabletop and the honest construction details visible from below: hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joinery, original corner blocks, and a traditional wooden drawer runner system. The single drawer face is bordered by a continuous hand-carved rope and bead molding and centered by a three-dimensional carved leaf bouquet that serves as the pull. The absence of any metal hardware is characteristic of fine provincial work of this period.

The two front legs are turned in a classical urn-and-bobbin profile; the two rear legs taper cleanly — a regional construction convention that kept the visual weight light while conserving materials. The walnut has developed a deep, luminous patina over 150+ years, a natural testament to its age and provenance.

Ideal as a bedside table, lamp table, entry accent, or side table. Suits French country, farmhouse, transitional, maximalist, and collected interiors. Offered in original unrestored condition.
