1960s Mid-Century Modern Sculptural Table Lamp

This vintage 1960s mid-century modern table lamp combines an elongated turned-wood column with sculptural patinated metal fittings, creating a refined lighting accent distinguished by its organic detailing and elegant proportions.

The central wooden shaft features a warm reddish-brown finish and a gently tapered profile that gives the lamp its graceful vertical silhouette. Its slender form contrasts with the substantial circular metal base, producing a balanced composition that is both architectural and decorative.

One of the lamp’s most distinctive features is the sculptural metal collar at the base of the wooden column. The darkened metal opens outward into curved, petal-like forms, introducing a subtle botanical influence characteristic of organic mid-century design. A complementary flared detail at the upper end of the wooden shaft reinforces the lamp’s cohesive appearance.

The broad circular base features concentric detailing and a softly aged metal finish, providing visual weight and a pleasing contrast to the natural warmth of the wood. The combination of materials gives the lamp depth and texture without excessive ornamentation.

An ivory-colored, multi-sided tapered fabric shade completes the composition. Its generous proportions complement the slender wooden column and circular base, creating a classic silhouette suitable for a range of interiors.

This vintage lamp is an attractive choice for a living room side table, bedroom dresser, entryway console, or home office. Its sculptural form pairs particularly well with mid-century modern, Scandinavian-inspired, organic modernist, and eclectic furnishings.
